About JMET

Junior Mining Entrance Test(JMET) is an entrance test conducted by Singareni Collieries Co. Ltd (SCCL).It is an external examination conducted for the post of Over men.It is a non-executive category.

The written test consists of 150 objective type, multiple choice questions mainly in the subjects related to Post Junior Mining Engineer Trainee, such as

  • Method of Mining
  • Drilling & Blasting
  • Mine Management
  • Legislation and General Safety
  • Mine Environment/Ventilation
  • Strata Management/Roof Control
  • Mining Machinery
  • Basic of Mine Surveying
  • Basic of Geology etc.

And also few questions on General English, General Mathematics, General Studies,Reasoning, Aptitude etc. to be answered in 2 hours (120 minutes) duration. The result for this test will be declared on the day of examination itself.


The minimum qualifying marks in case of executive cadre posts is 40% for Unreserved Candidates, 35% for BC Candidates and 25% for SC/ST Candidates and for non-executive cadre, it is 30% for Unreserved candidates, 25% for BC candidates, 15% for SC/ST candidates. The selection will be based on Merit and followed by role of reservation as per govt. orders issued from time to time and the spirit of presidential order, 1975.On appointment as Junior Mining Engineer Trainee, on stipendiary basis,The candidates will be imparted suitable trainee in the mines for a period of 1 year to acquire statutory certificates and possess related knowledge.On satisfactory completion of 1 year training and submission of valid overmen certificate of competence, gas testing and first-aid certificates and on passing departmental test, they will be appointed as Mining sirdar/shot firer in Tech. and SUP. GR. On satisfactory completion of 5 years as Mining sirdar/shot firer in T & S GR.C, they will be appointed as Overmen.C.

Eligibility: Diploma in Mining approved by AICTE/SBTET.

Age Limit:Minimum 18 years, maximum 30 years. However SC, ST, BC candidates will have 5 years age relaxation of upper age limit i.e., 30+5 = 35 years.

Pay Scale: Basic Pay Rs.19035.02

In addition,

  • Annual increment 3% of Basic pay.
  • Attendance bonus 10% on Basic pay.
  • Underground Allowance: 12.5% on Basic pay.
  • Conveyance reimbursement 42.30 per muster/Transport Subsidy Rs.19.74 per muster.
  • Additional Transport subsidy Rs.28.20 per night shift muster.
  • Coal Mine provident fund 12% (Basic + DA) and contributory Coal Mines Pension facility.
