About Coal India Limited

Coal India Limited (CIL) a Public sector undertaking under Ministry of Coal, Government of India, is the single largest Coal producing company in the world and operates 413 mines in 82 mining areas across 8 states in India (West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh & Assam). CIL produces over 84% of the country’s entire coal output and also 72% of the power generation in the country.

Eligibility:B.E/B.Tech/AMIE/B.Sc (Engn.) in relevant branch of Engineering with minimum 60% marks. All qualifications should be recognized by AICTE/appropriate Indian Statutory Authorities.

Age Limit: Upper age limit 30 years.

Pay Scale: Rs.20,600 – Rs.46,500

Service Agreement Bond: 5 years.

An amount of Rs.5000 per month will be deducted from their salary for a period of 5 years. The amount so deducted will be refunded in full with simple interest on completion of 5 years of service. The candidate will be required to execute a bond of Rs.3 lakhs for the same at the time of joining.

The Selection Process will be undergone in 3 different stages.


  • Computer Based Online Exam:

    The Online exam will be held for 3 hours duration which consists of two papers. Paper-I consists of General Awareness, Aptitude, Reasoning and General English. Paper-II consists of Professional Knowledge. Each paper will have multiple choice questions of 100 marks. There will not be any negative marking for wrong answer.


  • Personal Interview:

    The Candidates who get minimum qualifying marks in written test will be declared as shortlisted for the Interview. Only those who get the call letters will be allowed for the Interview.


  • Medical Exam:

    Before joining the service, the candidates who were selected in the Interview will have to undergo medical examination by the company Medical Board as per the Medical Attendance Rules of the company and the decision of the Board will be final. The Candidates who are perfectly fit for that post are finally declared as shortlisted.
